A Curious Gentle Giant with a Signature Spark
Sparky arrived at our sanctuary after a terrifying start to life. At just two days old, he was taken from his mother and sent to a livestock auction, where he and his brother Scooter were at risk of being sold for veal. Fortunately, we had just welcomed Desi and knew we had room in our hearts and barn to rescue both boys.
While Sparky needed careful bottle-feeding for several weeks before transitioning to fresh hay and grass, he grew into a healthy, magnificent steer. Soon, he and Scooter were introduced to their older brother Desi, and the three boys have remained an inseparable trio ever since.
Today, Sparky is a gentle giant who is always curious about his surroundings. After recently straining his back while reaching over a fence for some delicious ripe blackberries, he now receives regular chiropractic care from our friend Dr. Myles Herman, alongside vet-prescribed pain medication to keep his senior aches at bay.
