A Real Fighter
Chili was a triplet. In the womb, her position made it so her knee joints were fused, making it nearly impossible for her to stand.
At just 12 hours old, she arrived at our farm sanctuary from Country Oak Acres and from day one, this little girl has been determined to move. Not long after Chili arrived, Maggie gave birth to twins, and Chloe, tiny and rejected, came in the house for round the clock care. Chili and Chloe instantly bonded.
With the help of pain management, persistent physiotherapy, and a custom wheelchair, Chili has made progress but it is unlikely she will ever have normal mobility.
That doesn’t mean she doesn’t get around. Using her custom wheelchair, Chili is let loose on our sport court. She can manipulate around corners, wheel herself close to the hay manger and drink from a bucket just her height.
Afternoons are spent lounging on a fluffy bed, or propped up on a basketball (an aid she figured out on her own). Her constant companion is Rosey, the other of our disabled goats. Nighttime the two retreat to their special shed, complete with heated floors.
Chili is a happy, playful and sweet little girl.
