Providing a Peaceful and Comfortable Retirement for a Rescued Goat
This handsome goat came to us after testing positive for Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE). CAE is a contagious viral condition that can affect a goat’s joints. Because of this, his breeder could no longer keep him with their breeding herd. The breeder was offered $400 for him to sell for slaughter, we were lucky he chose our Langley forever home instead.
It is perfectly safe for Haymie to live with our residents. CAE primarily spreads to young kids through a mother’s milk, or between adult dairy goats during milking. We do not breed or milk our animals, so there is virtually no risk of transmission to others.
Here, he can safely run and play with his new herd. We monitor his health closely and provide any specialized care he needs as he ages.
