At The Happy Herd, hay is more than just feed, it’s the foundation of life. Despite having some grass pasture for the animals to enjoy in the summer, every grazing animal on the farm relies on hay for their daily food. This includes our rescued goats, sheep, cows, and pigs. During the winter months, it become critical to their survival.
Yet a full hayloft is never guaranteed. Weather shifts, supply shortages, and rising costs make hay season unpredictable and stressful year after year.
This season, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are celebrating a barn stacked high with hay—enough to carry The Herd through the colder months ahead. Every bale represents compassion in action and ensures that no animal in our care will go hungry this winter.
As we step into fall and winter, we do so with a little less worry and a lot more gratitude. A hayloft filled to the rafters means security for the animals, peace of mind for us, and the reassurance that kindness makes all the difference.
