It’s a crisp morning at the Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary, and as the animals stir awake, a loyal group of volunteers begins arriving at our Langley farm sanctuary. Each shift is filled with cleaning and feeding chores—demanding, physical tasks that ultimately fulfill the needs of both the humans and the rescued farm animals who rely on us.
For our resident goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and chickens, these dedicated volunteers bring essential comfort, care, and love. In return, our team gets to witness beautiful second chances firsthand, becoming part of a close-knit, like-minded community doing something truly meaningful for animals who have rarely experienced kindness, compassion, or a life without fear before arriving here.

Our volunteer family is now more than 75 strong. Some of our dedicated team members have been with us for more than 8 years, showing up rain or shine. With two shifts per day, 7 days a week, the sanctuary is always humming with activity and care.
Beyond the daily shifts, we love celebrating this incredible team with community gatherings, like our annual volunteer appreciation BBQs. In these moments, they get to relax, connect, and celebrate the small, beautiful milestones—like a new rescue overcoming their shyness and finally finding peace in the sanctuary.
