Noodles is an Icelandic sheep who arrived at 2 weeks of age from Salmon Arm in May 2023. He suffers from a neurological issue which is why his mother rejected him. His hind end doesn’t always react normally due to a motor skill impairment. The vet assures us that he is perfectly healthy otherwise, and will likely have the issue for his life.

He has grown stronger with age but has not reached a normal height for his breed. His problem also makes him think he is always hungry and is forever cleaning up any scraps the others leave behind.

He has made friends with the other lambs and goats and nothing holds him back. He is always found up on his hind legs stretching to reach into buckets no one thought he would be able to. This little man is quite the fighter and he’s a joy to have around the farm.

Steve, a co Founder of the Happy Herd and worked as a courier. One day he made a delivery to a local pet store who had a batch of “rescued” puppies. He decided he was going to bring one home and was told by the store that they would hold it for the day.

When Steve went back, the pup he had picked was gone and only the runt was left. It was being manhandled by two kids and looked terrified. As soon as they put it down, Steve scooped it up and went to the cash desk. Driving home he kept looking at it and thinking..what have I done…I got a chihuahua! What would Walker do (our current much larger dog) and what would Diane say!

Well, he is no common chihuahua, he’s mixed with something, but happy and getting on in his years. We’ve recently noticed his hearing is going, and he’s getting quite grey in the face. He’s happy to greet all vistors, and always has a playful bark to let you know when you’re not paying enough attention to him!

Walker passed away and Rocky now shares his home with all the cats, and of course, any animals that need special “in house” treatment or rearing.

His coat is half hair and half wool. We did not know hair sheep existed until we got Norman. He has a long tail that swings in circles when he runs. It’s adorable. Norman’s best pal is fellow sheep Casey.

At a day old Linus was being raised by a Great Pyrenees’s ( a mountain dog) and her 10 pups after being rejected by his mum. At day 3 he looked like he might not survive and came home to be raised in our house with bottles every 2 hours. He survived and when old enough was buddied up with Gibbles who just arrived and the two of them flourished together.

Linus is a gentle and kind lamb, he has the sweetest expression always! Linus loves to play with the broom during clean up time and often follows the volunteers around and waits for head scratches. He get a lovely coat which is removed during the hot summer.

Linus is part of our ‘lamb’ group, nicknamed that because in addition to Linus, Lincoln & Lola also arrived as babies. The three share their space with Tyrell, Mousse, Percy, Noodles and Pickles the pig.
